The Dorp Tunnel, also known as Dorp Tunnel, is a 488 m long railway tunnel in the city area of Wuppertal. It is located on the railway line Düsseldorf-Derendorf–Dortmund Süd, which was opened in 1879 and is now out of service, in the area called “Wuppertaler Nordbahn,” between the Wuppertal-Dorp stop and the Ottenbruch train station, and is crossed by the Federal Motorway 46.
The tunnel is occasionally used in summer for screenings of films. The tunnel is curved along its entire length. The tracks and signaling equipment have since been removed. For photographers, the tunnel offers a very interesting backdrop. The tunnel has now been developed as part of the Nordbahntrasse as a cycling and walking path and is equipped with LED lighting for use both day and night.
