Since 1996, Aachener Land has been the name of the double Eschweiler motorway service area on the German Autobahn 4 between the Eschweiler-West junction and the Aachen junction. When it was founded on 7 June 1973, it was originally called Propsteier Wald after the neighbouring forest in the western part of Eschweiler with its own junction for the former military depot Camp Astrid. There is the Aachener Land Nord and Aachener Land Süd service area.
Until 28 December 2009, the service areas were run by medium-sized tenants. With the retirement of the tenant, a large corporation, Eliance Deutschland West GmbH, took over the business. It was renamed Elior Deutschland West GmbH.
