The New Reich Chancellery on Voßstraße in Berlin was built between 1934 and 1943 under Adolf Hitler according to plans by Albert Speer as a complement to the old Reich Chancellery and the extension building erected between 1928 and 1930 on Wilhelmstraße.
Officially, Hitler commissioned Chief Building Inspector Albert Speer on January 11, 1938, to construct a new building along the entire Voßstraße, which corresponds to a building front of 421 meters in length. However, planning had already begun in 1934, and from 1935, the 18 buildings on the street were gradually purchased. The Palais Borsig, which had also been in state ownership since 1934, was not demolished but integrated into the new construction. The building plans were realized by Hans Peter Klinke.
