The famous scientist Alexander von Humboldt (born September 14, 1769) spent his childhood here at castle Tegel during the summer months. It was owned by the wealthy Prussian aristocratic family von Humboldt. During the winter the family stayed in Berlin. The castle is still owned by descendants of the family von Humboldt. On Mondays tours are held. Around the palace is a park. On the west side of the park, you will find the family tomb designed by Schinkel.
