Maust is a village and former German municipality of about 550 inhabitants, located in the district of Spree-Neiße, Brandenburg. Maust is the largest district of the municipality of Teichland in the Sorbian settlement area of Lower Lusatia.
Maust lies northeast of the Willmersdorf district of Cottbus and about three kilometers south of the town of Peitz. To the north and east, Maust is surrounded by the Peitzer ponds. The largest of these ponds, in which carp are mainly reared and which gave the municipality of Teichland its name, are the Neuendorfer Teich, the Teufelsteich and the Halterteich. In Maust, due to the surrounding pond landscape, the water table level is only about 1-2 m below the earth's surface, which leads to lush vegetation in the 1435 ha district.
