The former copper hammer, now a tavern and residential place, was located between the Mittelmühle in the north and the Forsthaus Siehdichum in the south, along the Schlaube in today's municipality of Mixdorf. It is crossed at the mill by the Kupferhammerweg between Mixdorf in the west and Schernsdorf in the east.
The copper hammer became regionally known in the 16th century because the Beeskow blacksmith Antonius Ott built a copper hammer with a residential house here in 1553, to which the residents came to have old copper utensils melted down and to receive new ones. The abbot of Neuzelle and the Order of St. John had given their consent to this, as Ott promised to offer his goods at prices below those of his competitors. In 1568, the bailiff of Niederlausitz again approved a Beeskow citizen to set up an iron hammer. The new owner of the mill, Christoph Schütz, processed the bog iron ore obtained in the Schlaubetal at this hammer. It is also interesting that there was a vineyard at the copper hammer during the Early Modern Period. A small vineyard, one acre in size, existed until 1852. The grapes were not pressed for wine but were eaten as table grapes.
