Neubabelsberg is a villa colony that emerged after the founding of the German Empire and has been part of Potsdam since 1939. It is located in eastern Potsdam, southwest of the Berlin locality Kohlhasenbrück, and extends from the Griebnitzsee S-Bahn station along the Griebnitzsee to the former imperial garden Park Babelsberg, which contains Schloss Babelsberg.
The villa colony was established in the area of the municipality of Klein Glienicke in the Teltow district, which was renamed Neubabelsberg in 1925. The municipality of Neubabelsberg was incorporated into the city of Nowawes on April 1, 1938, which was simultaneously renamed Babelsberg. The city of Babelsberg was incorporated into the city of Potsdam on April 1, 1939.
