Prestewitz is a village and a former municipality in the district of Elbe-Elster, Germany. Currently, 376 inhabitants live there. The total area of the village is 6.08 km².
Since Wr- does not appear in Sorbian, Czech, or Polish in the initial sound, it can be assumed that the author is of Low or Middle German descent. In Old Sorbian, Brestovica means something like Ulmenort, which, in addition to the circular shape of the hamlet in the old city center and the field names of Prestewitz, suggests a name in Old Sorbian.
