The Academy of Foreign Service is the training and further education institution of the Federal Foreign Office. Since 2006, it has been located on the Reiherwerder peninsula on Lake Tegel in Berlin-Tegel, previously from 1973 in the Bonn district of Ippendorf. The central building of this property is Villa Borsig, which serves as the guesthouse for the Federal Foreign Minister.
At the Academy, the candidates for the middle, senior, and higher foreign service are primarily prepared for their new tasks. It simultaneously houses the "Foreign Affairs" department of the University of Public Administration. Further training measures of the Federal Foreign Office are also conducted here.
