Woblitz is a village in the district of Himmelpfort in the town of Fürstenberg/Havel. It is located in the Himmelpforter Heide forest area and was built in 1773, first as a tar kiln, later it became a forester's office. Today it is a nature conservation station that takes care of injured birds of prey. The residential area is located about 3.3 km northeast of the village of Himmelpfort directly on the river Woblitz.
The name Woblitz for the place of residence did not come into use until after 1800. Previously, the locality was called Lychenscher Winkel. The name Woblitz is a water name that has been transferred to the place of residence. Today, the outflow from the Großer Lychen to the Haussee is called Woblitz; it is a tributary of the Havel. In the past, this drain was called Lychen. It was not until 1566 that it was said: "When the beke from the large lichen comppt, it kriget a different name and is called the Wobelitz." The name Woblitz is derived from a basic form * Voblica = small Havel and thus refers to the tributary of the Havel. Woblitz/Wublitz is still often found near the Havel. The name of the Havel is of pre-Slavic origin.
