Zeischa is a village and a former municipality in the district of Elbe-Elster, Germany. The village, which is located about three kilometers from the city center and in the Lower Lusatian Heath Nature Park, is located on the Black Elster.
According to tradition, the Harigsburg, a protective structure of Slavic chivalry, was once located near the village, which was first mentioned in a document in 1391, which secured the passage of the Black Elster here. Since time immemorial, the livelihoods of the inhabitants have been agriculture and livestock farming as well as fishing. Towards the end of the 19th century, the first forest nurseries were established, the cultivation areas of which characterize the village meadow on the Elster plains to this day. Around the same time, gravel mining began north of the village, creating a dredging pond of about 80 hectares, which has been partly used as a recreational area since the 1960s.
