Doberlug Castle is a four-winged complex built in the Renaissance style in Doberlug-Kirchhain, Brandenburg, whose origins date back to a 12th-century monastery. Converted into a hunting lodge and then as a seat of power, it is now used for exhibitions of art collections. This is where the Rock am Schloss concert takes place.
The history of the castle begins with the foundation of the Cistercian monastery "Dobrilugk" in 1165 under Dietrich von Landsberg, the Margrave of the Ostmark. The monastery existed for almost 400 years until it was occupied and dissolved by Elector Johann Friedrich of Saxony in 1541. In 1551, Heinrich von Gersdorf took over the ownership of the monastery and converted the abbot's house into a four-wing complex in the Saxon Renaissance style.
