German Wusterhausen

Deutsch Wusterhausen is a district of the town of Königs Wusterhausen in the Dahme-Spreewald district of the German state of Brandenburg.

The round or cul-de-sac village was first mentioned in the land book of Charles IV in 1375 as Dudeschen, Dutschen, Dudeschen Wusterhusen. At that time, it was 41 Hufen in size, of which three tax-exempt parish Hufen belonged to the pastor. There was also a church Hufe. The village continued to have five cottagers; there was an inn. Before 1375, the village was owned by the von Schlieben family. They held the upper and lower jurisdiction, the church patronage, the wagon services, and received – with the exception of seven Hufen – the tithe. These were assigned to a citizen K. Sünde and were transferred in 1430 to the citizen Nabel from Berlin. The place name refers to the neighboring – and older – Königs Wusterhausen, which was referred to as Wendisch Wusterhausen until 1718. The late Romanesque church was already built in the 13th century. By 1450, the village was still 43 Hufen in size, although seven Hufen were deserted. There was an inn and nine cottagers. The poor development continued in the following decades. By 1480, already 16 Hufen had become deserted, and of the nine cottager farms, seven were deserted. Until after 1480, the von Schlieben family was still in possession of the place. The seven Hufen of the citizen Nabel passed around 1536 to a M. Happe from Hapberg. After that, the ownership relations become unclear until the Schenken von Landsberg appeared as new owners in the "parish village in the lordship of Wusterhausen" before 1550.
