Description

The castle building is divided into two parts, the front and the back of the castle, each with an inner courtyard that is worth a visit. A four-winged building of uniform height and with its profiled sandstone walls present on all the facades, the rear castle has a relatively homogeneous, essentially Renaissance appearance. The front castle, on the other hand, is made up of several buildings of different heights, dating from different eras from the Renaissance to the early 20th century. The transition from the front to the back of the castle is through a bridge and through the castle tower, which is crowned with a pyramidal roof with a lantern. Within the walls of the rear castle, part of the structure of the previous building, a medieval castle complex, is still preserved. Some interiors are decorated with a cross or star vault.
The first documented lord of the castle or castle appears in a document from 1282 in the form of a "Dominus Heinemanus of Vynsterwalde". In the 14th and early 15th centuries, the castle is said to have been the seat of a robber baron named von Gorenzen, who would attack travelers on the surrounding trade routes from here.
