The special weapons storage facility Finsterwalde, officially designated as 2952 Repair-Technical Base of the Air Forces, was located near Finsterwalde, on the grounds of Finsterwalde Airfield in today's Elbe-Elster district, Brandenburg. It was a special weapons depot of the GSSD.
The nuclear free-fall bombs stored here were likely intended for the 559th Bombardment Fighter Regiment stationed at Finsterwalde Air Base. The regiment was part of the 105th Bombardment Fighter Division in Großenhain, which was subordinate to the 16th Air Army.
