Meuro is part of the municipality of Schipkau in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg. The local mayor is Frank Priemer.
Meuro was first mentioned in the year 1474. The district chief of the electorate of Saxony, Kunz von Breitenbach, mentioned it together with the also newly mentioned places Rauno/Rowna and Sauo/Sowjo in a requested report on the condition of the district. Like the surrounding villages, Meuro was for a long time an agriculturally shaped place. In addition to field farming and animal husbandry, viticulture and beekeeping shaped life in the village. The farmers from Meuro, just like those from Sorno, Klettwitz, and Lieske, were obligated to serve in the district of Senftenberg. They had to transport manure from the sheep stables to the vineyards of the district in the Hörlitzer field. The church, school, and cemetery were located in the neighboring village of Klettwitz.
