Lichtenower Mill Stream

The Lichtenower Mühlenfließ is a 22.78-kilometer-long stream in the Brandenburg districts of Märkisch-Oderland and Oder-Spree. The stream is named after the village of Lichtenow.
The partially natural, partially heavily straightened brook originates in the Ruhlsdorfer Bruch nature reserve or in the Ruhlsdorfer See. It drains the Barnim plateau around Garzau-Garzin into the Elsensee, where it reaches the Buckower Rinne. The waters of the Elsensee, the southwesternmost link of a chain of lakes, flow through the Baberowsee → Bauernsee → Liebenberger See into the Löcknitz and are thus fed into the Spree. Although this stream, from a formal perspective, constitutes the upper part of the Löcknitz watershed, it has not been perceived or referred to as the upper course of the Löcknitz. It is an independent small watercourse, from whose erosion base another outflow originates. Officially, the inflow and outflow of the Maxsee have been defined as the upper course of the Löcknitz, although this water body is less water-rich and shorter in length up to the confluence than the Lichtenower Mühlenfließ.
