The Großer Tornowsee is a 10.3-hectare lake located in the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park in the district of Pritzhagen, a district of the municipality of Oberbarnim in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland.
The natural eutrophic water body lies northeast of Buckow, the capital of Czech Switzerland, in the transition zone between the southeastern slope of Barnim and the Stobber Lowlands. Only 250 metres to the west, but on a tertiary ice pack 17 metres higher, follows the Kleiner Tornowsee. In the Natura 2000 network, the lakes are part of the FFH area "Tornowseen-Pritzhagener Berge". On the north shore of the lake, which is otherwise surrounded by forest, is the former Tornow estate. Today, among other things, the "Schule am Tornowsee", an institution of the state of Brandenburg with a special educational focus on emotional and social development or autism, is housed here.
