Mukrena is a village and a former municipality in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The village lies on the right side of the Saale opposite the town of Alsleben.
Mukrena is located in the Harz foothills and thus in the rain shadow of the Harz Mountains and suffers from a lack of water. With less than 500 mm of annual precipitation, this area registers the lowest rainfall in Saxony-Anhalt.
The Saale is only very slightly sunk here. The lower level of the Saale lock in the village is 60.01 m above sea level, and the Radeberg has a height of 102.9 m above sea level.
The name Mukrena comes from the Sorbian, mok = wet, in German something like wet meadow or wet forest.
