Plößnitz is a village and a former municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The community lies southwest of the town of Laucha on the connecting road to Burkersroda. Plößnitz was incorporated into Laucha an der Unstrut on 1 April 1959.
The village of Plößnitz is a place of Slavic origin and was first mentioned in a document in 1396 as Plesenitz. The village, located in the district of Freyburg, belonged to the Lords of Laucha with its free noble seat. In the Middle Ages, Plößnitz was under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Naumburg. Thus, on 7 December 1449, the Bishop of Naumburg enfeoffed Werner von Rockhausen and his cousin Eiffurt with the village of Plönsnitz with all appurtenances, jurisdiction, etc. The village belonged to the families living on the Kirchscheiden manor, until 1712 to the von Rockhausen family and then to the von der Schulenburg family on Burgscheiden until 1945.
