Until 1815, Kalzendorf was an official village in the Saxon district of Freyburg and later became part of Prussia. In 1689, there were 31 liable men living in the village, including 7 farmers and 24 smallholders. The village land consisted of 14 half-farms and bordered Steigra, Jüdendorf, and the main road near Schnellroda.
The village belonged to the jurisdiction of the Karsdorf district court and was ecclesiastically a branch of the main church in Steigra.
