Loeser & Richter

The company operating under the name Loeser & Richter produced pasta under the trade and protection mark Anchor Brand Noodles. It was the first German factory to package pasta in cellophane. Before World War II, the company also supplied the American market. The company was based in the Saxon town of Löbau. The history of the company is closely linked to the construction of the Schminke house.
The company Woldemar Loeser & Co. was founded with the signing of the partnership agreement on March 5, 1874, by the Dresden merchant Georg Woldemar Loeser and the estate owner and merchant Stephan von Keszycki from Ilgen near Fraustadt. Already in the following year, on October 20, 1875, Stephan von Keszycki left the company as a co-owner. The new partner became the Löbau rentier Hermann Lange on October 23, 1875. He too left the company a year later, on October 2, 1876. The new co-owner was now the Löbau merchant Julius Richter. Together with the name of the new partner, the company name Loeser & Richter was created, which was used until 1946. Woldemar Loeser passed away at the age of 41 on November 23, 1888, in Löbau.
