The viaduct Beckerbrücke, also known as the Chemnitz viaduct or colloquially the Chemnitztalviadukt, is a railway bridge built between 1901 or 1903 and 1909, which is protected as a historical monument, located along the railway line Dresden–Werdau in the urban area of Chemnitz. It spans the Annaberger Straße, the Chemnitz River, and the Beckerstraße. The riveted steel truss bridge was constructed by the Königin Marienhütte in Cainsdorf; the Peiner Steel Works also contributed to the production of the steel girders. The construction costs of 1,050,999 marks were shared by the city of Chemnitz and the K.Sächs.Sts.E.B. under the Saxon Ministry of Finance. The bridge originally carried four tracks over the valley. The four-track usage lasted about 20 years. Subsequently, two tracks were decommissioned and dismantled after World War II as war reparations for the Soviet Union. Currently, two tracks are laid on the bridge and in use. As part of larger renovation and reconstruction works in Chemnitz, replacement with a new bridge structure and subsequent demolition of the viaduct are planned.
The structure is a combination of two arch bridge segments and several plate girder bridge segments. The bridge has twelve openings. From east to west, a single-span girder bridge segment spans the federal highway 95, the Annaberger Straße, and an arch bridge segment crosses the Chemnitz, followed by two two-span girders, before the seventh opening crosses the Beckerstraße as an arch bridge. The section between the second arch bridge segment and the western abutment is filled by two girder bridge segments, one being a two-span girder, the other a three-span girder.
