Asbeck was first mentioned in documents in 1092. In the 12th century, a noble ladies' convent was established in Asbeck, which lasted until 1805. Asbeck includes the hamlets of Frettholt to the north of the village, Eißingort to the east, and Wehr to the west. Since July 1, 1969, Asbeck has been part of the municipality of Legden.
