The town hall of Aachen is the historic town hall of Aachen. The impressive building is located opposite the Aachen Cathedral. Together with the Cathedral, it is the most prominent building in the center of this beautiful city. One tower dates back to the time of Charlemagne. During World War II, the building was heavily damaged by Allied bombings, but restoration began immediately after the war. In the 1970s, the interior was restored and the building received new spires. The town hall of Aachen is an important tourist attraction. Since 2009, it has been part of the Route Charlemagne, which makes historical sites related to Charlemagne accessible to visitors. An exhibition explains the history and art historical significance of the town hall.
