The Hochstaufen barracks is a Bundeswehr location in Bad Reichenhall, Upper Bavaria. The barracks were built starting in the autumn of 1934 and received its current name on August 1, 2012.
As part of the rearmament of the Wehrmacht during the time of National Socialism, Bad Reichenhall became a garrison town starting in 1934. The new barracks were built in the then-independent western neighboring community of Karlstein, which, as planned from the beginning, was incorporated into the city of Bad Reichenhall by a government decision "effective from July 1, 1937" and has remained structurally nearly unchanged to this day. In 1939, the northern part of the barracks was the location of the III. Battalion of the Mountain Infantry Regiment 100 with regimental headquarters and Company 16. In addition, the I. Department of the Mountain Artillery Regiment 79 and a medical detachment were stationed in the southern part of the barracks Bad Reichenhall.
