Nabental Waterfall

The Nabental Waterfall in the Harz Mountains, also called Nabetaler Wasserfall in some documents, is located west of Torfhaus Harz in the district of Goslar and consists of two parts. The almost inaccessible lower waterfall is located in a short steep gorge in which the small Nabe stream has cut into the trough valley wall of the uppermost Kellwasser valley. However, the name applies above all to the upper part, a cataract section in the course of supply lines to the dam ditch. Thus, it is part of the Upper Harz water shelf.
The Nabental Waterfall is located in the Harz National Park not far from the Steep Wall, a cirque wall on the northern slope of the Bruchberg between Torfhaus and Altenau. Above, the L504 country road runs between Altenau and Torfhaus with a connection to the B 4 federal road. At the level of this road, the water of the Clausthal flood ditch flows into the bed of the hub. In its bed, it forms the steep section following the terrain fall, which is called the Nabental Waterfall. This name can be found as early as 1873, when the Nabentaler Bach or the Nabe is dammed below the "waterfall" and largely discharged by a failure structure into the Nabetaler Graben, which begins here. The beginning of the Nabetaler Graben is about 40 metres above the dam ditch.
