The nature reserve Nieder Heide am Egelsberg is approximately 4.6 hectares in size and is located in the southwestern urban area of Moers. It includes a moist birch-oak forest and directly borders the larger Krefeld nature reserve Egelsberg to the south. Together, the two nature reserves are almost entirely part of the FFH area DE-4605-302 Egelsberg, making the area part of the European protected area network Natura 2000.
