Obermaubach is a district of the municipality of Kreuzau in the Düren district in the Rureifel and in the Eifel National Park. The residential area of Schlagstein belongs to Obermaubach. On December 31, 2008, Obermaubach had a total of 1,403 and Schlagstein 239 inhabitants.
Obermaubach is located on the northern edge of the Eifel in the Rureifel in the North Eifel Nature Park, right by the Rur, which is dammed there to create the Obermaubach reservoir. The town is surrounded by Eifel mountains on three sides. The towns of Nideggen, Bergstein, and Bogheim are located on the heights. Downstream is Untermaubach.
