Landsberg station is one of the two train stations in the large city of Landsberg am Lech in Upper Bavaria. In addition to the station, there is also the stop Landsberg am Lech Schule in the city. At Landsberg station, the line from Kaufering branches off into the line towards Schongau, also known as the Fuchstalbahn. The station has two platform tracks at a main and an intermediate platform and is classified in category 6 by DB Station&Service.
Landsberg station was opened in 1872 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways as the terminus of the Kaufering–Landsberg railway line. With the opening of the line to Schongau in 1886, Landsberg became a transit station. Around 2000, the railway area was modernized and a large part of the railway installations were dismantled. In 2007, the station was named station of the year by Allianz pro Schiene together with Berlin Hauptbahnhof.
