The St. John's Church is a small Roman Catholic Rococo church in the German town of Landsberg am Lech. The church building is a masterpiece by Dominikus Zimmermann and was dedicated to John the Baptist.
In the 15th century, the population of Landsberg increased significantly. With the construction of a larger Gothic parish church between 1458 and 1488, the old burial ground next to the church became too small. This led to the necessity of creating a second cemetery. Therefore, in 1505, the city purchased a house with a piece of land at the corner of Brudergasse and had it demolished to establish a chapel. The land provided enough space for the development of a cemetery. The chapel was consecrated on May 1, 1507. Outside the walls of Landsberg, a cemetery with its own chapel was established in 1565, but for the affluent bourgeoisie, the other cemetery remained in use.
