The Protestant Cemetery Kempten is located in Kempten on the western slope of Burghalde. The cemetery is managed by the Protestant Lutheran Church community of Kempten, with administration handled by the Kempten Church Office.
The current site has been owned by the Imperial City since 1379. For a long time, it was used as an orchard and animal garden. In 1527, the Imperial City of Kempten joined the Reformation. In 1535, the cemetery was abandoned due to a lack of space in the church district of St. Mang Church and Erasmus Chapel, but graves remained there until around 1600. Starting in 1553, the cemetery was established on the slope of Burghalde. In 1563, it received a wall that rests on a late Roman city wall to the west. In 1839, the construction of the chapel, which was consecrated in 1841 in neo-Romanesque styles, began. In 1905, an extension to the north was completed. The urn hall was finished in 1936.
