The St. Clement's Church in Büsum is a Protestant-Lutheran sacred building from the 15th century. It was dedicated to Saint Clement of Rome, the patron saint of sailors, fishermen, and coastal residents, and is therefore also known as Fisherman's Church.
A church in Büsum is documented as early as 1140. The first church fell victim to the great Mandränke of 1362. A second church burned down. In 1442, the residents of Büsum built the church that still exists today on a raised warft. Excavations showed that different foundation stones were used in the foundation between the chancel arch and the area from the pulpit to the west wall. It is therefore assumed that the current church was built on the remains of a predecessor structure. In 1728, the western side of the church was renewed, and a staircase was added. During this time, the south wall was also at risk of collapsing, leading the congregation to demolish the Gothic vault and replace it with a flat wooden beam ceiling; additionally, support pillars were erected on the north side.
