The Jahnkampfbahn Wald is a stadium in the Solingen district of Wald. The entire facility has been under monument protection since 1994.
On May 11, 1920, the Wald Building Commission decided to build a stadium. In doing so, the city of Wald, which remained independent until its incorporation into Solingen in 1929, responded to a call for Playground Promotion Day on May 9, 1920, to establish sports facilities for the population nationwide. A part of the filled-in Krausener Brook valley, a swampy area that had been misused as a dump, was designated as the location for the future stadium, which was drained and leveled. From 1921 to 1927, "emergency and compulsory workers" contributed 200,000 workdays to the construction of the facility; two people lost their lives in an accident.
