The Apeler See is an artificial lake in the municipality of Schiffdorf, in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies about 1 km southeast of Bremerhaven on the railway line to Bremervörde. The lake was created in the early 1970s, when the sand from Ice Age deposits located here under the former moor was used for the motorway bed for sand extraction as part of the motorway construction. Previously, there were pastures of the farms of the village of Apeler here.
