The Protestant Church in Lindenfels in the district of Bergstraße in Hesse was built in 1825, but it is based on a late medieval predecessor building. The parish belongs to the Deanery of Bergstraße in the Provostry of Starkenburg of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau.
The church located in the northeast corner of the medieval town center is based on the late medieval church of the place, around which the burial site of the inhabitants was also located at that time. The early history of the old church is only known in fragments. In the High Middle Ages, there was no church in Lindenfels, only the castle chapel of Lindenfels Castle, which was also used by the local residents. A chapel in the village is documented in 1403, which was probably a filial of Schlierbach. In 1417, permission was granted to collect funds for the establishment of a parish church. It seems to have been built shortly thereafter, as funds were already being collected again for construction measures by the end of the 15th century. In the 16th century and even later, the church shared the turbulent Reformation history of the Electoral Palatinate. During further construction measures, it is possible that remaining building materials from the chapel that burned down in 1563 in Lichtenklingen were used.
