The Wembach springs from the Teufelsrechgrund, southeast of the Ober-Ramstadt district of Rohrbach. It flows east past the village of Wembach, runs through Reinheim, and empties into the Gersprenz. A part of the Wembach feeds the Langen Graben during high water, which joins with the Dilsbach north of the Reinheimer pond to form the Landwehrgraben, which flows into the Gersprenz after about a kilometer.
The Wembach is a fine material-rich, carbonatic mid-mountain stream. The ash region is its dominant fish area. Its catchment area covers 14.7 km² and its average discharge is 114 l/s. Its ecological status is reported as unsatisfactory.
