Allertal between Gifhorn and Wolfsburg

The Aller Valley between Gifhorn and Wolfsburg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Wolfsburg as well as in the municipalities of Weyhausen and Osloß in the joint municipality of Boldecker Land, in the municipality of Calberlah in the joint municipality of Isenbüttel, the municipality of Sassenburg and the town of Gifhorn in the district of Gifhorn.
The nature reserve with the designation NSG BR 146 is about 895.1 hectares in size. Of this, about 67 hectares are accounted for by the city of Wolfsburg and about 828 hectares by the district of Gifhorn. The nature reserve is completely part of the 18,030-hectare FFH area "Aller, untere Leine, untere Oker" and the 2,112-hectare EU bird sanctuary "Barnbruch". Near Wolfsburg, the nature reserve borders directly on the "Barnbruch" nature reserve. The area has been a nature reserve since 1 October 2014. The "Dannenbütteler Torfteile" nature reserve east of Gifhorn has been merged into the new nature reserve. The responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the city of Wolfsburg and the district of Gifhorn.
