The Carolaturm is an observation tower in Koblenz, Germany. It stands on a steep slope to the Moselle in the district of Lay and offers a view of the Moselle valley and Winningen. The tower is a monument to the development of tourism and the instrumentalization of the landscape.
The Carola Tower was built between 1895 and 1896 on the initiative of the "Coblenz Beautification Association" according to plans by the Koblenz city building councillor Friedrich Wilhelm Maeckler. The observation tower was named after the wife of the then Lord Mayor Emil Schüller. After its construction on the Layer Bergweg, forest and gymnastics festivals were held here, and in the time of National Socialism also festivals of convictions. It was renovated in 1922, 1962, 1980 and 2006.
