Old St. Hubertus

Alt St. Hubertus is the former parish church of the municipality of Wolsfeld in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate.
According to a legend, Saint Hubertus was converted in the area of Wolsfeld. This resulted in a lively pilgrimage to the Wolsfeld Chapel of St. Hubertus. The first building is believed to have been erected in the 12th century. Around 1500, the chapel was expanded due to the pilgrimage. At the time of the visitation in 1570, the chapel was a branch of Alsdorf and had four altars and four chalices. Between 1612 and 1620, it was expanded by the barons of Enschringen. The mass was read one year by the pastor of Alsdorf and the following year by the pastor of Dockendorf. In 1656, a Hubertus brotherhood was founded in Wolsfeld. In 1768, Victoria Freiin von Pallandt, née Countess von Saintignon, donated a mass. In 1803, Wolsfeld was elevated to a parish church. In 1926, the new Hubertus Church was consecrated in Wolsfeld.
