The Cyriaci Chapel is a deconsecrated former hospital chapel in the town of Nordhausen in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia.
In the face of the increasing infectious diseases in Europe during the 13th century, particularly leprosy, the town of Nordhausen established a leprosarium in addition to the existing St. George's Hospital. In 1280, Hertwig von Ellrich endowed the hospital, which was built about 300 m outside the city wall on the opposite bank of the Zorge and was called the Siechhof, or leper hospital. The accompanying chapel was built between 1281 and 1284 after Archbishop Werner of Mainz approved the construction on January 23, 1281, and was consecrated to St. Cyriacus and St. John the Baptist on November 20, 1284. In some documents, St. George is also mentioned as a patron. On March 7, 1287, and again in 1289, the community was granted indulgence. On November 18, 1289, Archbishop Gerhard of Mainz granted Hertwig von Ellrich the hereditary patronage of the chapel. Presumably, the Siechhof was also used during the plague epidemics of the 14th and 15th centuries.
