The Niederwalddenkmal is a monument above Rüdesheim. A cable car leads there.
In 1871, the Niederwalddenkmal was erected based on a design by Johannes Schilling and Karl Weisbach. The monument was completed in 1883. It reaches a total height of 38 meters, and on the top of the monument stands a 10.5-meter-high statue of Germania, symbolizing the guardianship over the Rhine. It commemorates the founding of the German Empire immediately after the Franco-Prussian War. Since then, the monument has been a tourist attraction. Source: Wikipedia
