The Vierherrenstein is a historic boundary stone. It stands at the point where 4 lordships came together about 500 years ago: Jünkerath, Blankenheim, Kronenburg and Schmidtheim. Three of the four coats of arms can still be recognized on the boundary stone.
Near the stone runs the Agrippa Road, an old Roman road. Unlike other Roman roads, this one is rather winding: it follows the watershed between the Kyll and the Ahr to avoid the risk of flooding. The remains of the road run about 150 m behind the stone through the forest and are recognizable as a verge.
