Wilder See-Hornisgrinde is a nature reserve located in the area of the municipality of Baiersbronn in the district of Freudenstadt, Baden-Württemberg. Since the establishment of the Black Forest National Park in 2014, it has only included a peripheral area of its former size.
The nature reserve was designated by the ordinance of the Württemberg Minister of Culture on March 31, 1939, and originally covered an area of approximately 766 hectares. The scope of the protection area regulation was reduced in 2014 by § 19 of the National Park Act to the areas outside the Black Forest National Park, which is why the area designated as a nature reserve is now only 15.2 hectares large. Moreover, it is the oldest protected area in Württemberg, as part of it has been a forest ban area since 1911.
