The glass manufacturer Poschinger is a producer of glassware based in Frauenau in the Bavarian Forest, which has been specializing in custom-made products since 2001. The company was founded in 1568, making it the oldest glass manufacturer in Germany and the oldest continuously family-owned glass manufacturer in the world.
The glassworks was first mentioned in the ownership of the Poschinger family in 1569. In the first three centuries of its existence, the facility changed locations frequently. Initially, production took place in a forest-rich area where wood was available as a heating material, until the surrounding forests were depleted and the wood supply exhausted. Every forty to sixty years, a new facility was built in a different location where sufficient wood resources were available. The product range included church windows, chalices, and drinking glasses.
