The monastery path is not named in vain: Between 1795 and 1825, there was a significant monastery complex here at the "Rosendahler Kreuz." French Trappist monks and nuns fled before the French Revolution to continue living in monastic community in Darfeld. Visitors can learn about what this monastic life was like at a memorial site established by the partnership association Rosendahl-Entrammes/Forcé/Parné sur Roc e.V. At the archway made of Baumberger sandstone, there are information panels, audio stories, and films that bring the former monastery "on the Rosenthal" to life. This way, future generations can also learn and experience how the Trappists lived here and how their work laid the foundation for a deep friendship that has lasted for many decades between Rosendahl and its French partner communities.
