The watermill of Haus Langen is located southwest of Westbevern at a weir in the Bever River, shortly before it flows into the Ems. This impressive watermill, which belongs to a manor, is one of the most distinctive examples of the typical Münsterland double mills that were prevalent in the Middle Ages.
The oil mill was shut down around the turn of the century. The grain mill on the other side of the weir continued to operate until 1958 with two milling processes (the Büdelgang and Schrotgang) for contract work.
This beautifully situated destination for many cyclists is a popular subject for painters, sketchers, and photographers.
