Named after the moated house Haus Vögeding located there.
The restored old farmer's castle Vögeding was used for naming twice, once with the full title Haus Vögeding and also as Vögedingplatz in the new development area. The manor Haus Vögeding had the hereditary family von Bischoping as its vassals until 1550 and came to the family von Schenking through marriage. ... Through marriage, the estate came to the family v. Wrede zu Ameke and then by purchase to the family von Droste-Hülshoff.
