Lock Louisenburg is an unfinished lock in the Nordkanal. The construction of the Nordkanal began around 1800 during the time of Napoleon to connect the Scheldt, Meuse, and Rhine rivers. However, the Nordkanal was never completed, and the lock fell into disrepair. As a result of the construction of the canal and the lock, a small hamlet developed around the lock at that time, which was named Louisenburg (after Napoleon's second wife).
