La esclusa Louisenburg es una esclusa nunca terminada en el Nordkanal. La construcción del Nordkanal se inició durante la época de Napoleón alrededor de 1800 para conectar el Escalda, el Mosa y el Rin. Sin embargo, el Nordkanal nunca se completó y la esclusa cayó en la decadencia. Como resultado de la construcción del canal y la esclusa, en ese momento se formó un pequeño vecindario alrededor de la esclusa, que recibió el nombre de Louisenburg (nombrado en honor a la segunda esposa de Napoleón).
